SmurfWeather

Mobile overhaul, background alerts & pro polish

Major mobile layout rework in this release. Phone-friendly layouts are now a core part of SmurfWeather - every future update will keep full mobile support.

• Mobile overhaul - sticky section nav, responsive observation cards, touch-friendly controls, CripSocials-style footer, and layouts tuned for small screens (not a desktop-only afterthought).
• Independent units - separate °C/°F and km/mi toggles on the observation card (or in Settings); mix freely, e.g. °C with miles. Applies to forecast, hourly chart, and notifications.
• Share & deep links - share any city from the header; open links like ?city=London or ?lat=…&lon=….
• Settings modal - test notifications, quiet hours, unit prefs, and alert status (#settings or footer).
• Sticky section nav - jump to Now, Warnings, 14-day, Hourly, or Radar while scrolling on phone and tablet.
• Social previews - Open Graph & Twitter meta for rich link previews when shared.
• Background notifications - hourly digests and warnings from the service worker when the app is closed (install + bell + allow notifications; best on Android).
• Enhanced UI - observation panel, outlook sections, official warning strip, and data-source pills on PC and mobile.
• Changelog link - open version history via #changelog (like CripSocials), including #chnagelog alias.
• App updates - installed apps show an Update now banner when a new version deploys.
• Widget removed - home-screen widget dropped; unreliable across devices.

Live radar, 14-day forecast & official warnings

• 14-day forecast - extended outlook with scrollable table and daily rain %.
• 24-hour chart - temperature line and rain probability bars for the next day.
• Weather map - MapTiler rainfall, temperature, and cloud layers with forecast playback.
• Timeline playback - scrub or play through past and forecast hours on all layers.
• Weather backgrounds - sky scenes that match current conditions (day and night).
• Saved locations - drag to reorder and set a home location that loads first.
• Fullscreen map - expand the weather map to fill your screen.
• Your location - cyan dot marks your city on the map.
• Official warnings - Met Office (UK) and NWS (US) alerts in-app and via notifications.
• Hourly notifications - weather digests and change alerts when the bell is enabled.
• Unit toggle - wind & visibility in metric or imperial.
• App updates - installed apps show an Update now banner at the top when a new version is deployed.

PWA dashboard & saved locations

Search any city for live weather and a 5-day forecast. Save your favourite places, get optional alerts, and install the free app for quick access on your phone or PC.

This is not a downloadable product, neither is it for any games. (Just like Met Office)
